    Azek Building Products. The maker recently announced that it’s Azek Porch product joins Azek Deck on the list of products tested and classified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for use in California’s Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) fire zones. WUI testing goes beyond that for standard A, B, or C fire ratings. Updated tests were created to reduce the speed and spread of fires from burning embers carried by winds that land on roofs, decking, or other surfaces. The testing criteria include burning embers on the surface and under-deck flame ignition.

    James Hardie. Designed for use across multiple climate conditions, the HardieZone System includes HZ5 and HZ10 fiber-cement siding. The HZ5 product’s composition, including a beveled top and drip edge, protects against freezing temperatures, snow, ice, and moisture, and maintains dimensional stability under severe weather conditions. For hot and unstable climates in the western and southern U.S., HZ10 materials also resist moisture, cracking, splitting, rotting, swelling, high winds, termites, and flame. Both HZ5 and HZ10 materials feature ColorPlus technology that resists weather conditions as well as the fiber cement itself, the maker says.
